00:00:34:06 – 00:00:52:55
Unknown
Hey everyone, and welcome back to another episode of the Unmarketable Business Podcast. I’m so glad that you’re here. I’m so glad you came back. And if you’re listening and watching and reading, you know I’m going to change that on my website to say, listen, watch, listen, read. Because you can do all those things on the show notes page.

00:00:52:55 – 00:01:20:19
Unknown
You can watch the video, you can listen to the audio and or you can either download the transcript or click to read the transcript right there on the page. So any kind of way you want to learn and consume the episode, you got it. How is everyone doing out there today? I hope you’re doing well y’all. I had to turn on the air conditioning here in, Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

00:01:20:21 – 00:01:40:07
Unknown
Oh my gosh. I sat down and I was already starting to sweat. And if y’all have seen any of my previous videos where I have the other glasses on the red ones, they just want to slide down my nose and off my face and I cannot have that anytime. But especially today when I’m trying to concentrate and record and and do all this good stuff.

00:01:40:12 – 00:01:43:30
Unknown
So I’m even thinking about I have some red,

00:01:43:30 – 00:01:56:43
Unknown
red rimmed glasses and I’m looking forward to getting so y’all see them first when I get them, because I’ll probably build, I guess, with them. But, the other ones and have the real, real fake red I love red. Red is my color,

00:01:56:43 – 00:02:03:53
Unknown
but they’re just a little heavy. I don’t know if I still want to, you know, embrace that identity here.

00:02:03:58 – 00:02:23:01
Unknown
Not that it has anything to do with anything, but what I want. So I’m going to see I’m going to see how I feel. And, when I get some new glasses, which will be soon, probably in April sometime, because I just got things. When I got here, I couldn’t see anything. I brought some glass on the States and the prescription was running out, and I was like, oh my God.

00:02:23:01 – 00:02:48:13
Unknown
So we got these and these are great, and they work well. But I got some a little funkier. Just just a little bit. Just a little bit. Well today on this episode I have a very special guest. Her name is the Andre. At least now I can’t remember. And I said this in the actual interview, if her name is pronounced at the end of the thing, the Andre at the Andre and I did both and she did correct me, what was right.

00:02:48:13 – 00:02:55:15
Unknown
So again, at the beginning of this, the Andre the answer, I’m going to apologize to you because

00:02:55:15 – 00:03:06:31
Unknown
I don’t know I don’t know what my brain can hold it in there. Sometimes it gets like that. Yeah. Y’all know what I’m talking about. Sometimes your brain is, you can tell it 100 pounds, whatever the thing is, and it it won’t adhere to it.

00:03:06:31 – 00:03:22:29
Unknown
It won’t acknowledge it. It won’t do what you said. It’s just its own brain. It does its own thing. Right. And that’s what my brain is doing that. So today we’re talking about the power of pivoting, embracing change in business and in life. And lordy, lordy, lordy, you know, this is right on time

00:03:22:29 – 00:03:32:01
Unknown
because there is so much change going on out there in the world, out in the States, even in, Mexico itself, there’s change, you know, as a as,

00:03:32:01 – 00:03:32:54
Unknown
a tourist.

00:03:32:54 – 00:03:55:09
Unknown
Well, I guess we’re here on tourist. I’m not we’re not citizens. So we’re not allowed to participate in a protest that we read about. And okay, I protest anyway. I am happy with my life. I am with my best life ever, and I am good. And don’t get me wrong, I know there are issues and problems in every place Mexico, United States, Canada, wherever, but right now, a mouthpiece of the world.

00:03:55:13 – 00:04:16:30
Unknown
We ain’t have no problems. We are just feeling awesome and grateful and blessed. So that’s the way we’re going to stay. And I pray that God allows me to keep doing that. So on this subject of pivoting, when I first, when I first met Deandra, that’s what I’m going to say, Deandra, the whole time. And then I’ll see you at the end if I did it right.

00:04:16:31 – 00:04:21:39
Unknown
Not so. When I first met Deandra in a group that we’re in,

00:04:21:39 – 00:04:34:14
Unknown
I wanted to go and check her out. I found she had a podcast. Ding ding ding. Love it when people have podcasts and I can listen to them, check them out. She also has a YouTube channel, so chick is doing her thing right. So I was very impressed.

00:04:34:14 – 00:04:56:03
Unknown
So I listened to the first episode I listen to on a podcast, was talking about pivoting and how she wants to pivot from being, she’s an event industry and how she was get out of the industry and get more into coaching. And I’m like, oh, that’s amazing. And she was just talking about it. It was just it was so smooth and so easy on my ears.

00:04:56:03 – 00:05:23:25
Unknown
I’m like, I got to get her on the podcast and I did, and I’m so happy and all are going to be glad as well. So when talking about this pivoting thing, you know, it’s a God thing. It is divine. Because just this week alone, I have two clients who have informed me that they are pivoting away from the business that they that they’re doing right now and going on to do something else, something else better or greater or more aligned with what they want to do.

00:05:23:30 – 00:05:31:27
Unknown
And they’ve been like looking at everything they’ve been doing. They’ve been revival. You and just I was talking about in the

00:05:31:27 – 00:05:50:22
Unknown
last episode about pitfalls and stalls and all that, you know, y’all aren’t the only one going through this. All of us entrepreneur is. And I know we all feel it. We’re all going through it. Whether or not we had a change in administration, whether or not we’re in the country, out of the country, where we all go through these pitfalls.

00:05:50:22 – 00:05:56:54
Unknown
You know, business and entrepreneurship is an up and down thing. So these two clients have actually

00:05:56:54 – 00:06:11:38
Unknown
did the work and looked at what they’re doing now. And if they’re not satisfied, which they weren’t like, I’m not doing that anymore. I’m doing something totally new. So this podcast episode is right on time with this, and I’m so happy to bring it to you.

00:06:11:38 – 00:06:14:22
Unknown
And it’ll make you think. And Deandra has a

00:06:14:22 – 00:06:18:08
Unknown
has a challenge for you at the end, which will help you as well.

00:06:18:08 – 00:06:35:53
Unknown

00:07:32:09 – 00:07:34:59
Unknown
Is tech time

00:07:34:59 – 00:07:52:58
Unknown
and the program product service software that I have today is Akismet. I think that’s how you said Akismet AKA is a meta I believe is Akismet. And what it does, it is so unassuming, but it does. It does the work of a much bigger program.

00:07:53:03 – 00:08:12:32
Unknown
It simply protects your site from and control comment spam. All you WordPress site owners know that it’s the bane of our existence with this dog. All comment spam. People from anywhere in the world can come and comment on your on your site, but you don’t want to let them get through. You don’t want those comments to get there.

00:08:12:33 – 00:08:38:31
Unknown
You only want real comments to get through. So Akismet helps you manage that whole thing deletes all its stuff you do have. I think you do have to manually. I don’t think they have it automatically because you know, you may get some real comments mixed up in there so you have to manually do it, but they take the bulk out of it by like if you get 100 messages right in a day, an hour or whatever, you get 100 messages and they’re going to

00:08:38:31 – 00:08:40:01
Unknown
hold all of them

00:08:40:01 – 00:08:41:51
Unknown
before they are released.

00:08:41:51 – 00:09:01:54
Unknown
And you need to set that up in your WordPress account in the, in your, dashboard settings to hold all the comments. I’ll just let the comments go for free because that’s not going to be good counsel. Spammers will sneak in there. So Akismet looks through all those 100 and gets the worst of the worst ones. I think this is really spam.

00:09:01:59 – 00:09:21:35
Unknown
And and they, don’t let them. They keep them from even getting or getting to your site. So, so that you have to go through the trouble of deleting them. So it’s like a guard standing at the door. I’m akismet you ain’t coming in here. And I love it. I’ve used it forever. It used to be free, but now it’s paid.

00:09:21:49 – 00:09:41:32
Unknown
Even the paid version. I think you pay $5 a year or something, and you can find it in your WordPress depository with all the other plugins. So go in and you probably won’t even have to look it up, because usually it comes already installed on your WordPress site. All you gotta do is activate it, and when you activate it, that’s when you pay.

00:09:41:33 – 00:09:47:22
Unknown
You get the key, you put it in there and you don’t have to worry about too much spam anymore, right? It’s amazing.

00:09:47:22 – 00:09:53:57
Unknown
Without any further ado, let’s get to this interview about pivoting with my new friend and collaborator,

So hey everyone, I have my very special guest that I told you about in the very beginning on here. Now, Deandra, you guys have the under crimson. Are you just. Deandra, you you have some moniker thing going on, right? And it’s it’s actually pronounced Deandra, but it’s Deandra. Then it’s I usually go by the end of Jalisa because that’s my middle name.

00:12:33:56 – 00:12:52:55
Unknown
Chris and I, like, kind of, like, took it out, but is my name. That’s my government name. I love it when we put that middle name thing in there, because my middle name is Joyce. I never, ever use it. So I have started using the J. So my husband’s, mother who passed away before I met her.

00:12:52:59 – 00:13:09:33
Unknown
She was a Joyce. So I’m a Joyce. She’s a Joyce. We don’t we don’t give that middle name enough stuff. So talk about pivoting I love you. I was like, I love my middle name. So I was like, I’m gonna use it in my name. Yeah, definitely. We have to do that. So I got you on here today.

00:13:09:33 – 00:13:24:29
Unknown
I’m so happy. The the Andre is that how I say Deandra. Deandra. So I don’t like to pronounce people’s names wrong. Because I’d be like when you pronounce madam give me a hand on the air. Carolyn or Caroline. They’re like, my name is Carol.

00:13:24:29 – 00:13:31:22
Unknown
I’m so glad that we could come on today and talk about pivoting, because pivoting is so important, especially right now.

00:13:31:22 – 00:13:47:35
Unknown
Now, nowadays, pivoting is important because I think a lot of people are like stuck. They don’t know what’s happening in life, they don’t know what to do. People are telling them, sit down, boycott, and then other people are telling them, get up, go do something. And I think all the business owners and entrepreneurs are kind of in the middle.

00:13:47:35 – 00:14:07:11
Unknown
We don’t know what to do, so it’s time to pivot, but then we don’t know how to do it right. So that’s why I got you here. So before we get into all this, why don’t you tell the audience about yourself what’s going on, how you get to this point, and then we’re going to come back on and talk a little bit about some pivoting action here.

00:14:07:16 – 00:14:08:21
Unknown
Okay?

00:14:08:21 – 00:14:35:53
Unknown
Okay. So, I’m gonna go back a little bit because I am I would say I am the pivoting Queen. I have pivoted a lot in my life. And it all started, when I started out as a hairstylist, my mother and my grandmother, were hairstylist and, well, my mom is still hairstylist to this day, and I was raised in the hair salon, so it was just something that came natural to me.

00:14:35:53 – 00:15:07:03
Unknown
And, you know, I just gravitated towards doing hair. I went to college, but I start feeling like maybe I want to follow my family’s footsteps and do hair. So I went into the, hair industry, and I soon found out that it wasn’t what I wanted to do. So I then entered into the event industry, and that’s when, like, my whole life kind of changed because I think I was really walking, in my purpose and doing what I wanted to do for myself.

00:15:07:03 – 00:15:45:38
Unknown
So, pivoting into the event industry was a game changer for me. And then that’s when I actually was able to build, my event business, which I specialize in organic balloon decor. And, I built a six figure, business with that. And it’s been amazing. And now pivoting again, I’m, pivoting now into coaching and helping, other creative entrepreneurs start their businesses and get them off the ground and is also learning how to pivot into something brand new because it’s very scary and sometimes you, like, don’t know where to start.

00:15:45:38 – 00:16:07:46
Unknown
So I feel like for me, just learning how I pivoted and then I was okay, like I did, and I came out on the other side every time I feel like it’s just also just having faith and knowing, like what God put on your heart to just do it because something’s telling you to do it. But you’re like, I don’t know if I can even do this.

00:16:07:46 – 00:16:38:03
Unknown
And that’s where like the power of pivoting and really just implementing it, like what you want to do and just keep just do it. Exactly, I feel it I mean I love it. Thank. Just do it. Stop worrying about it. Stop bitching about it, stop wondering about it. Just do it. And we have we have to do that in so many things in our life, our business, our marriage relationship, our relationship with our kids, our relationship with our parents, we have to pivot because there’s certain stages we go through.

00:16:38:08 – 00:17:02:30
Unknown
Now, I would be remiss if I did not ask you this, and I ask everybody is how do you because this, this podcast is about getting more traffic to your website. How do you get traffic to your website? Well, first I created a beautiful website so that it stands out when someone lands on it. I love it, it has everything in place and it’s like easy, user friendly.

00:17:02:35 – 00:17:20:10
Unknown
I feel like that’s something that I’ve always wanted was just a user friendly website to get connected with my clients. But I’ve done a lot of stuff as I’ve been growing my business with social media. Instagram. I don’t post as much anymore because I am transitioning businesses, but I still get a lot of business from my Instagram just because.

00:17:20:10 – 00:17:48:33
Unknown
And when I did, when I first started my business, I was like going hard in the paint, showing up all the time, and I got all my traffic from Instagram and obviously like SEO and all those things too. But I think it was it’s just, like social media is where I kind of start there and have my little, links page, and you can go to my site and directly to the pages that you need, right, to get in the door.

00:17:48:38 – 00:18:06:07
Unknown
I love that I love that directly to the pages. That’s how I know that you are an educated, tourist driven entrepreneur because you go straight to the pages, not just my whole website. Right? So everything. No, just this one page that you need. I love that. I love when people say that calls me. Yes. You know, I’m sure you agree with me.

00:18:06:13 – 00:18:28:43
Unknown
Sending people to your whole web pages is a waste of money and time, right? Overwhelming to like sometimes people. Because what I’ve learned is a lot of people don’t read. Oh yeah. That’s you know, so if you just make it as easy as possible like a book now and you can just book now, it’s just easy then like go to my site, check out my gallery.

00:18:28:43 – 00:18:46:03
Unknown
If you look at my gallery, just go to the portfolio. Go to the gallery. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah yeah I agree, I agree. We do have to make it simple and easy. And you know, that’s that’s one of the things that’s going on now. Nothing is simple and easy right now. Everybody’s afraid. Everybody’s like, you know, what do I do next?

00:18:46:03 – 00:19:08:01
Unknown
How can I do it? My husband and I were talking about it like everything’s kind of at a halt because nobody knows what to do. Everybody’s holding money close to their chest. I don’t know what’s happening. You know, I’m not spending my. But that’s not getting us anywhere, because there’s a lot of people out there who have money and who are spending it and who are making bake, making change, do all this stuff.

00:19:08:01 – 00:19:32:37
Unknown
So what do you think about what’s going on now out in the world since we, you know, got this craziness going on, especially in this day. And it’s been because personally to in my business has been affecting, the event industry because, I mean, you know, I would say January to about March anyway is kind of slow, but I, I’m busy, but right.

00:19:32:49 – 00:20:00:31
Unknown
I feel like this past year and this year it’s been like, I don’t even know like a rollercoaster. Yeah. Because like people to their budgets are changing. In the past they would call with like good nice budget, but now it’s like, oh, I only want to spend $300 or $200, which is in retrospect, a lot of money, but for what people want and they’re envisioning, it’s like nothing to make it happen.

00:20:00:31 – 00:20:25:55
Unknown
You know, you have from in my industry party city closed down. So in retrospect, everybody’s like, that’s good for your business. But in reality, it’s not because Party City was a place where you can just go in and get something quick. I’m not that service. So it’s been all over the place, and I feel like in this day and age, to just everyone not willing to invest in themselves and being scared to invest in themselves because it’s like,

00:20:25:55 – 00:20:29:06
Unknown
social media again, I feel like I’m kind of

00:20:29:06 – 00:20:33:05
Unknown
messed that up because there’s all these like, you know, imposters.

00:20:33:10 – 00:20:52:35

Because I’ve had an imposter before as a coach, like, and I gave them all this money and I didn’t even get anything out of it. So I know the feeling of investing in something that that’s when you just do your research. But again, make it we have to make it easy for people to do their research and find us, so that they can get the information that they need.

00:20:52:40 – 00:21:10:05
Unknown
So. Exactly, exactly. It’s all about ease and grace. We’re not trying to make it difficult. We’re trying to make it easy. And that’s what, you know, when I listen to your episode on your own podcast and you were talking about pivoting, I was like, I gotta get this girl out of my pockets because we’re all going through this.

00:21:10:10 – 00:21:30:19
Unknown
I think there’s not one profession person, business owner, entrepreneur that is not affected by this in some way, shape or fashion. We’re all having to pivot in some kind of way. Even you are saying that, you know, you’re pivoting to a new branch of your business. Who knows, you may get down the line, put them back together, and then right, and then you got a whole new thing.

00:21:30:34 – 00:21:49:17
Unknown
You know, it’s it’s kind of crazy. So what made you decide that you’re going to maybe put on a hold for a little bit, not do it as much, but go into coaching instead of actually doing this thing that you’re doing now. Well, for starters, I mean, I’ve been doing I’ve been in the industry for ten years.

00:21:49:22 – 00:22:00:21
Unknown
But I’ve been designing balloons for eight, and a lot of people don’t realize how labor intensive it is and very draining on your body.

00:22:00:21 – 00:22:15:30
Unknown
And the logistics of it all. The I live in LA, and so trying to get from one place to the other can be just mentally draining for me. So I’ve just been like, I want to find something a little bit more.

00:22:15:30 – 00:22:36:19
Unknown
I guess I don’t want to say easier because coaching is not easy. No, but easier in certain ways. Maybe even easier. Like my body, my state. Also not having to deal with like the ups and downs of events. Events alone can give you a migraine. So

00:22:36:19 – 00:22:42:50
Unknown
I know, I know, but, I love it and I still love design, and I will still probably be teaching design.

00:22:42:54 – 00:23:04:45
Unknown
It’s just I want to back away from that side and just more so help, because that’s when I been helping people. It’s been so, it’s been feeling so, like, so amazing to me to see the transformations and to, get someone from who’s just so stuck in their way and then just start seeing them shine. I think that’s the thing that just

00:23:04:45 – 00:23:08:06
Unknown
brings me so much joy, and I’m really passionate about that.

00:23:08:11 – 00:23:27:05
Unknown
Just because I know I did it, and I know when I started coaching really wasn’t it was that out there, but to me, it wasn’t accessible. What I was thinking when I started my business ten years ago. Right. But now I’m like, trying to create spaces and communities so that it is accessible and

00:23:27:05 – 00:23:33:21
Unknown
something you’re not afraid to do because it’s it’s I feel like to a lot of people try to make entrepreneurship super hard.

00:23:33:21 – 00:23:56:37
Unknown
It’s hard. Yeah, but it’s not when you have like guidance and someone to help you and tell you the steps who’s actually done it. So yeah, that means the most if you can get with someone who’s got proven a proven track record, like you can look back in their life or their blog posts or whatever and see they’ve done these things.

00:23:56:37 – 00:24:25:47
Unknown
They’ve been there, been there, done that goth t shirt type of thing. And that makes you a little bit ease up on, okay, I’m going to pay them, work with them. But in all, I think every entrepreneurial thing that we do is hard because if you’re anything like me, you’re probably somewhat of a perfectionist. I’m not 100% a perfectionist, but I am somewhat of it because I’m detail oriented in some things, and in other things I’m like, oh, you know that that’ll be okay.

00:24:25:47 – 00:24:46:18
Unknown
But certain things I’m like, it’s got to be like this and this and this, and, I’m the same way. Yeah, yeah. And I want to teach people. And you’re right, coaching does give you that feeling of, oh my God, at this person. I had a part in teaching them, and now they’re doing that the same way I feel about my authors who are out there when they come to me now, like, you know what?

00:24:46:18 – 00:25:06:06
Unknown
This is going to be a bestselling book. And they go really casual. It is. I was like, yeah, it’s going to be a bestseller. And they have that all the way up until we get to the thing. Whereas this bestseller, they’re like, oh my God, it’s a bestseller. And then you see, blossom and there’s all of that and that’s so heartwarming that it’s all is.

00:25:06:08 – 00:25:19:27
Unknown
But it all, it all started because of that pivot. I wanted to ask you this. What is the biggest lesson that you’ve learned from pivoting and all these pivots that you’re doing, especially now? What is the lesson that you’re going to carry forth in that?

00:25:19:27 – 00:25:31:41
Unknown
I think for me, I’ve just learned that pivoting is like kind of in a way, like a spiritual thing because I’m I’m just listening to my intuition and listening to my body and what feels good to me.

00:25:31:45 – 00:25:38:39
Unknown
And I’ve for a long time blocked that side of me out. And I’ve pivoted. But sometimes I like

00:25:38:39 – 00:25:50:32
Unknown
I like taking care of myself. But now I’m just really like, no, this is what I want to do. I want to change my life. So like, and I feel like we get stuck in this like box sometimes. We’re always like, this is what you do.

00:25:50:32 – 00:26:09:06
Unknown
Like, people put me in a box as a balloon artist and like, how are you going to leave doing balloons to do this? And it’s like, I’m a human being. I’m ever changing. I’m not supposed to stay this person for the rest of my life. Like, there’s so much I can do out here, and I only have one life right?

00:26:09:09 – 00:26:09:27
Unknown
So

00:26:09:27 – 00:26:26:10
Unknown
I want to make the best of it and do as much as I can and explore different avenues. And that’s why I always pivot, because who knows if coaching is going to. I know coaching is not going to be my final destination. It’s probably going to be like writing a book. You know, there’s yeah, yeah, many things and so many opportunities.

00:26:26:24 – 00:26:27:34
Unknown
And I think just

00:26:27:34 – 00:26:44:09
Unknown
stepping out on faith on all of these things is what motivates me every time you see you. That’s why I had to get you all because you sound so much like me of like, yeah, I mean, I was a personal trainer for, like ten years before that. I did web design. Yeah, I did web design with my husband because we’ve been in this business for 30 years.

00:26:44:09 – 00:27:01:06
Unknown
Right? Yeah. And I got kind of bored. I figured this is the one thing that made me, kind of go, I started running into these people who had, champagne tastes and beer budgets and then, you know, they didn’t have more money, and they were like, why do you spend all this for a website? I just got tired.

00:27:01:11 – 00:27:21:55
Unknown
But what I didn’t learn, which I learned later, was that I wasn’t targeting the right people. I wasn’t targeting anybody else. You want a website? Come on with me. Not knowing that no, everybody is not your client and you can’t work with everybody. You can get everybody everything. So I went on this track. I was a personal trainer for ten years, still doing web design and stuff on the side.

00:27:22:00 – 00:27:37:51
Unknown
And then I got to a point when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I just felt like my body had kind of fell on me. What, you know, betrayed me because I was a personal trainer. I was eating right. I was working out, I was doing all that healthy stuff, and I still got cancer. I’m like, oh my gosh.

00:27:37:51 – 00:27:56:01
Unknown
So, right there, like you’re saying, you were talking about taking care of your body, taking care of yourself. You’re like not losing the love for what you’re doing, but you know that there’s something different. That’s how I felt. And I’m like, wow, I just go back to, doing websites, make it full time, really get into it and all that.

00:27:56:12 – 00:28:16:22
Unknown
I heard the exact same thing. Why are you writing personal training. You know, you’re a great personal trainer that loses weight. And then I know that I’m like, I don’t. What if I don’t love it? I can’t do it right? You know, I just can’t. So I’m not going to make myself love something that I don’t love or I don’t have that love anymore.

00:28:16:22 – 00:28:36:13
Unknown
And now I put all that love and stuff into this business. The web design, marketing strategy and all that and the marketing strategies, you know, doing the book, the podcast and the summit to help spread the word. So I know exactly I know exactly what you’re talking about. So now, what advice do you have for someone who’s afraid to make that change?

00:28:36:13 – 00:28:48:10
Unknown
They know their stuff. They know they need to do something, but making the change and walking outside and going a different direction than where they are is to scared the crap out of them. And what advice do you have for them?

00:28:48:10 – 00:29:00:49
Unknown
Well, for starters, I would say, if you do some more, do your research, that helps a lot, with easing some of the fears is just understanding in totality what you’re getting yourself into.

00:29:00:53 – 00:29:33:57
Unknown
I feel like a lot of people, due to social media, will see someone who started a business or who’s doing something that seems interesting, and you just hop on in and you don’t really understand what you’re getting yourself into until you’re in it. And then you’re like, wow, this is not what I want, right? And that’s and then that’s where the fear actually manifests, because you didn’t do the time and you didn’t do your due diligence to get the research, ask for help, get a mentor, possibly, who’s doing whatever you want to do.

00:29:33:57 – 00:29:36:18
Unknown
I don’t even go on YouTube like I

00:29:36:18 – 00:29:56:32
Unknown
it’s just it eases your mind. And also finding like a network for me, every time I go into a new industry or think of a new idea, I try to find others who are doing that same thing and just pick their brains respectfully, because you, when you’re picking, you know, it’s a it’s a line when you’re picking someone’s brain.

00:29:56:32 – 00:30:09:33
Unknown
But, asking the right questions and finding those people so that you can feel more comfortable with taking that big jump into it instead of trying to do it yourself. Because you try to do it alone. You don’t know what you’re doing.

00:30:09:33 – 00:30:17:17
Unknown
You don’t. So having someone who’s like, oh, I experienced this before, too. This is this is going to happen.

00:30:17:17 – 00:30:39:25
Unknown
So you’re away. I get right, okay. I see the path and the walking in the dark, you know. Yeah, I think I think you’re right. You’re absolutely correct. We all need mentors, coaches, someone to talk to because that new road is scary. You know, it’s like it’s not been paved. We don’t think so. We don’t want to step on it.

00:30:39:36 – 00:30:57:22
Unknown
It’s not. There is no tree line. And so we’re hot. We’re in the sun. So we need someone that said, you know, it’s okay. I went down that road the other day. There’s paving just a couple of yards up. There’s some trees go out. You’re like, oh okay. Thank you. Yes. You know it’s you. Yeah. Having that person to just say yeah you’re you’re okay.

00:30:57:22 – 00:31:02:09
Unknown
Like you’re on the right track. Yeah. And you’re not crazy. Right. Exactly.

00:31:02:09 – 00:31:18:43
Unknown
Because sometimes we make, we’re like, oh what what are we doing? Why are we doing this? But we’re all we’re doing it because like you said, God is calling us to do something else, something different for such a time. Is this when everything is crazy? People are running around like a chicken with their head cut off.

00:31:18:43 – 00:31:36:47
Unknown
They’re trying to wait for the white House to say whatever you’re like. Stop waiting on that mess. We we need to look for God, right? Listen. And trying to see what he’s saying we need to do and not trying to see what anybody else because it doesn’t matter what any other person human does. God has got rule over it.

00:31:36:47 – 00:31:59:01
Unknown
So even though I’m saying that I have to keep myself in check too, because sometimes I go down that crazy road, be like, oh my goodness, you know, they’re doing this or stopping that. Maybe it’s a good thing. And maybe exactly. I was like, well, we have no control. What’s going on outside? So and I feel like a lot of people are allowing that to control what they do in life.

00:31:59:13 – 00:32:14:52
Unknown
And it’s like, no, like, you know, like Trump was in the office before when you talk about politics. So it’s like it will be okay. You know what I’m saying? You doing what you want to do and don’t focus on what’s going on in the white House and all of that. Just focus on what you want to do.

00:32:14:57 – 00:32:40:41
Unknown
Right? Because that that’ll keep you scared and stuck. And we’re not trying to do that. We’re trying to do the other s, which is successful, and we can do that. Which brings me to this pivot challenge. Always come on with a challenge with my guests. And this one sounds amazing. Tell us about this pivot challenge that you have for the audience to help them get unstuck and feel better about life and the things that are get ready to do.

00:32:40:45 – 00:33:05:05
Unknown
So I would say I want for your pivot challenge is to do seven days, because I feel like seven days is better than 30. 30 is overwhelming. But do a seven day challenge where every day you show up as the person you desire to be, like in your pivot. So let’s say you want to start a, I don’t know, a graphic design business.

00:33:05:05 – 00:33:27:56
Unknown
Let’s just go out there every day. What steps can you take to grow or even start this graphic design business? Is it writing a business plan on day one? Is it finding, a mentor or someone on you know, YouTube podcast that you can listen to to get some gems, right? What is your what are your seven days going to be?

00:33:28:00 – 00:33:47:27
Unknown
Plan them out and just do one small step, something that you can do within an hour to get to where you want to go. Because every day you do that, you’re going to start manifesting into this graphic designer that you want to be, or whatever business that you want. Yeah. So that’s a seven day challenge for you. I love that, and it’s easy.

00:33:47:38 – 00:34:04:53
Unknown
It’s easy and simple every day. Do one step now. Yes, audience members, you all have to figure out what your steps are, what it is you want to do. But it’s not hard. So no number one thing you need to do is start watching the news so much, right? Taking a little bite. Stop being on social media so much.

00:34:04:53 – 00:34:25:54
Unknown
Take it in little bites and concentrate more on the things that you want, what you want to do. Concentrate on yourself because nobody else will care about you. But we do. We care about you. We help you. Exactly. Yeah, literally. I feel like that’s honestly, I think that’s like the key is just to really focus on what you want, like.

00:34:25:54 – 00:34:48:20
Unknown
Because I think too, a lot of times with pivoting, people think about what their family’s going to think, what their friends are going to think. And it’s like, you know, your pivoting into a new version of yourself. You don’t even know who this person is. So obviously, once you start implementing task and doing different things every day, you’re going to be showing up as a different person and that’s what you want.

00:34:48:24 – 00:35:04:27
Unknown
And people may say, oh, you change, but that’s actually the time that you change, like I will. I love when people say, you changed because thank you. It shows that I’m growing and going where I want to go. I’m not going to stay the same. Right. So. Right. Yeah. Well, I love the fact that you are looking forward.

00:35:04:27 – 00:35:24:46
Unknown
Like you said, you’re young. You can make these changes now. You know you’re not old. Wait. Even me? I’m making changes. I’ve made changes to my life. So we all have to look at ourselves and see where we are. You know Paul? Well, Peter was a Peter. Paul said, be content in whatever you’re doing. I can’t remember when one of the people said, I think it was Peter.

00:35:24:46 – 00:35:39:59
Unknown
Peter, I think I here. Yeah, I don’t care. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ll forgive us. But we know, isn’t it? Y’all like to be content and all that you do. You know, that doesn’t mean you have to fall in love. With what? Just be content. Because when you’re content, you can think. And when you think you can make decisions.

00:35:40:11 – 00:36:09:59
Unknown
Because when you’re out there frazzled and crazy and running around and you’re you’re you’re crazy, everybody’s crazy. You can’t make good decisions because you don’t know what to do. You confused, right? And I always say a confused mind does nothing. They say, no, they don’t do it. They just kind of sit there looking at you all crazy and one thing I would like to add to your challenge in the very beginning, and I do this for myself and is to find a nice, quiet place, whether it’s a bathroom, closet or to just sit down.

00:36:10:04 – 00:36:25:13
Unknown
Once I get all that stuff out of your head, all that stuff you’re supposed to be doing could be delivered on it. Get it all out of your head and just be very quiet. And when you’re quiet, you can hear God talking to you. I know that, and he tells you the direction you need to go, but you have to be quiet and you have to be listening.

00:36:25:22 – 00:36:44:11
Unknown
If you’re not doing those two things, then, you know you can hear some other stuff or get it, get the message mixed up. But I think with your pivot challenge and just being quiet and really listening, we can make it through all you can because we made it through to whatever age we are now. We’ve made it through and I know we’ve all been through some craziness.

00:36:44:18 – 00:36:47:00
Unknown
So we going to do it? Yes we are.

00:36:47:00 – 00:37:01:59
Unknown
Oh my God, has this has been great. Thank you for joining me man. We did a lot in a little bit of time. But I would like for people, since you were talking about your website, to let them know how they can get in touch with you, whether it’s for coaching or, you know, they need some balloon work.

00:37:01:59 – 00:37:14:31
Unknown
But let us know how they can get in touch with you before I let you get out of here. Perfect. Yes. So if you want any, like, coaching or just like, tools, resources, all of those things. My website is

00:37:14:31 – 00:37:30:23
Unknown
Deandra jalisa.com, and that has everything to get in touch with me. If you do want to inquire about balloon services in L.A., my website is Dot party shop Avenue spelled out.com.

00:37:30:28 – 00:37:48:06
Unknown
And we can help you with any balloon decor needs. So two for one I love it. And I know, I know you are a trying, purpose driven entrepreneur. Can you say go to my website? You didn’t say your social media handle. Y’all listen up now you say social media. You don’t say any of these. I go to my website.

00:37:48:08 – 00:38:06:02
Unknown
That is the best place to tell people to go. That’s why we’re trying to get traffic to the website, people to go there right now. Everything over there, like, if you want to go to my social media, it’s at the bottom, right? Want to see my YouTube? Like everything is there. It’s like a hub. And so like instead of just saying go to my social media because sometimes I don’t even post on there.

00:38:06:02 – 00:38:33:26
Unknown
But I’m always keep my updated and newsletters like that’s the place to go. Exactly, exactly. And one more thing I almost forgot. You have a special gift for the audience. Tell us what that is and I’ll make sure we put the link in the show notes. Okay, cool. So I have a creative, the Creative Entrepreneur e-book, and it’s just a guide to guide you through the step, step by step process to getting your business off the ground.

00:38:33:26 – 00:38:53:17
Unknown
And I feel like it would be great for any creatives out there who are trying to go into a new path or even just, update their current path. It’s a great e-book that you can read, and, there’s some exercises and strategies in there. So it should be a good time. Awesome, awesome. Now y’all go out and get it.

00:38:53:17 – 00:39:12:46
Unknown
You’ll see the link up here and on the bottom of the screen. Or it’ll be or and it’ll be in the show notes. But let me say this right, Deandra. Then I’ll say this. Okay, Deandra, I want to see your name. Right. I don’t know why. You know what my sister calls me? Deandra. It’s maybe that she’s channel and maybe she’s channel, and maybe it’s like.

00:39:13:00 – 00:39:26:59
Unknown
So I have a couple friends who want me down there, like, it’s not a big deal. It’s just. It’s a capital A, so it’s Deandra. But they are not a band, you know? And I’m putting it in my brain, Deandra. And and see, I won’t get it wrong again. It’s like, I don’t know how to say a name again, but it’s okay.

00:39:26:59 – 00:39:43:00
Unknown
It’s okay. You’ve been awesome. This has been wonderful. Thank you so much for joining us today. And I know you’re going to be a great coach. I just I just know it. You already got you already got the stuff. You got the stuff. They building it up I love it. So I enjoyed this so much. Thank you so much.

Unknown

She’s been in, a couple different programs of mine. She’s actually come into a couple of programs, and I partner with, apostle Gina J. Rucker. And to help, in marketing your business, figuring out what you need to do and all that. And she came to me because she wanted to create her book. I released a book.

00:41:56:44 – 00:42:16:30
Unknown
I helped her with it. The name of the book is a 90 day Fresh Start guide at Journal. And her her little, tagline is it’s time to relax and breathe again. Well, don’t we all need that right now? Time to relax and breathe again. Which goes right along with pivoting and change. Because no one, no one really likes change.

They made a pivot and they took one small step. That led to another small step that led to a bigger step. That is the step that they’re taking now. So one small step, because a journey was the journey of a thousand steps starts with the first one, and the first one is always the hardest.

Number one, pivoting is scary. Find a mentor or coach who can help you through it, because there are a lot of people who have been through what you’re going through right now. Unknown
Number two, you were meant for more hashtag new vision, you know, and Proverbs 29 says, without vision, the people perish. So you don’t want to perish. You got to have a vision. You got to make it clear and you got to go for it. Right? So that’s what I want you to do. And finally, number three, live for God, not what everyone else wants.

00:44:42:12 – 00:44:46:58
